As New York Fashion Week kicks off with fall and winter designs, the fashion industry was shocked to learn that designer Alexander (née Lee) McQueen was found to have committed suicide yesterday. The 40 year old designer was said to have hanged himself after a slew of anguished online remarks regarding his mother’s death last week. McQueen is credited with reviving the once dying British fashion industry with his edgy and ingenious designs. The revered designer will be sorely missed by admirers of his boldness and by the fashion industry, family, and friends.
