LouLou Magazine, Canada’s source for great fashion finds and tips, always treats its readers with party finds and last minute holiday shopping in their December issues. This past December’s issue is no different. Amongst the dozens of suggestions for shoppers, one can find a variety of products, including stationary, home decor, makeup, and clothing.

Going all out for this holiday issue, one excitedly notes Valérie Schiltz’s two-paged spread of eco-friendly and sustainable products. One of such products listed is the original JUZD shirt. Highlighted as a “fashion favour,” Schiltz suggests the designer bamboo tee for the “fashionista who makes a point of encouraging the work of local artisans and takin care of Planet Earth.”

Here are pictures of models from the CHIC2008 clothing show (China International Clothing & Accessories Fair) in Beijing. Very innovative use of models. The above is half of the 20 models for this showcase. Below shows the other half. 20 sexy woman on stage at once, how can you go wrong.

This was a very interesting show. The walkway is a semi circle that wraps around the audience. Good mix of kids and adults. This brand doesn’t even have an English name which is rare.

The following are pictures from a brand called “Style Hong Kong”. Very creative name eh.

As there is a archetype of the Western cover model, (blond, blue eyes, big smile, curvy body) there’s also an archetypical Chinese model. It is skinny, gentle, soft, dark eyes, with youthful soft make-up and a small smile. I see this on magazine covers everywhere in China. Just like in the West I can’t really tell the cover models apart here either.

The models walked in zig zag patterns so everyone can see. Also smart use of badges that have the name of the item. This will help people place orders by reviewing their photographs.

Guys model too. Maybe they aren’t too popular or maybe it’s me selective photographing.

This last brand is my favourite use of models. There is a scene of six or seven models. They are all still. Then once every minute or so one of the models gets up and walks around showcasing their outfit. Then the model goes back to the original still position while in a little while another model gets up. I like this because it tells a story and the movement creates drama and interest. With only one model it guides your attention.

The in between of high and low fashion – Contemporary fashion

Posted on 28 December 2007 by admin

I was browsing through the Winter 2008 issue of FASHION when I came across a really interesting article on current trends of the fashion landscape and the movement of designer labels and Contemporary Fashion. Johanna Lenader puts it best when she describes contemporary labels as “brands that exist in the realm between H&M and Prada” (style and price) where an H&M shirt is $30 and a Prada shirt is $400.

Contemporary would be “the industry term for fashionable yet affordable new designer labels”. Which got me thinking… that is SO TRUE. Think the “Midway” designers like Arthur Mendonca, TIBI, Pink Tartan, Club Monaco, all which are fashionably chic and not overly expensive (by overly expensive I mean $15 000 for a evening cocktail dress) … which got me really thinking… and JUZD!

Although I wouldn’t say the JUZD collections are high fashion or couture inspired, we are definitely a combination of that which is inspired by high and low labels. The JUZD tee’s and hoodies are basics but made with bamboo fabric (high quality & eco-friendly).

With the designs being organically aggressive, the fabric unbelievably comfortable, the style and fit practical, JUZD is fashion forward and appeals to everyone. Could this be? JUZD has found a place in between the black and white fashion landscape as green and contemporary fashion.
