Uh oh! Marc Jacobs recently released a T-shirt designed with combat boots that looked like someone else’s – but wait, that’s not the kicker. The design isn’t a copy of another designer’s. It’s almost exactly like a tee from the 1980’s from LP “Boots & Braces” by Skrewdriver – a band with a singer who has publicly declared he’s Neo-Nazi.
Marc Jacobs released a statement and has responded quickly to any allegations being Neo-Nazi, as well as infringement on design and have pulled the shirts from their own stores.
It has been brought to our attention that the imagery on a T-shirt of ours is similar to that used by a band. We were not trying to make a connection to that band or make a statement of any kind. We have removed the stock of the shirt from our own stores and offer our retail partners the same opportunity
Do you own this shirt? How does this news affect your views of the brand?
