Mercedes-Benz Start Up Runway Show – Toronto Fashion Week Day 1
Day 1 of the World of MasterCard Fashion Week was indeed wet and wild with rain. But that didn’t dampen the spirits of attendees! Despite the weather (which seems to be the most consistent trend associated with this particular event), all arrived in fine form, dewy, but no worse for the wear.
The main event of the night was the Mercedes-Benz Start Up Runway Show. Now in it’s fourth year, the Mercedes-Benz Start Up (for those who are wondering) is a program dedicated to the discovering and mentoring of up-and-coming Canadian Fashion Designers. This year’s 6 finalists were Beaufille, BLAK.I, Eliza Faulkner, Laura Siegel, Sid Neigum and Vaiken. All battled for the grand prize: a solo show in March of next year for the Fall 2015 collections, mentorship provided by the panel of judges, and the newest addition of $30,000!
Though all 6 designers certainly earned their place as finalists, it was Alberta-born, Toronto-based Designer, Sid Neigum, who emerged victorious!
