After celebrating her 10th anniversary, Rachel Roy’s designer label has been shut down permanently by its parent company, Jones Group. Sources are saying that Rachel Roy’s businesses doesn’t align with the strategic direction of Sycamore Partners, the buyers of Jones Group, which to me means they’re probably not making enough revenue, or finding the designer label to be less profitable in comparison to other labels held under the parent company.
For consumers, this probably means two things in the next 6 months: Sample Sale & Storewide clearance
At this time, the designer label is being sold at Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s and Saks Fifth avenue, but they will not produce the collection that was just recently shown on the runway.
