Startup Fashion Week for the Fashion Gurus and Entrepreneurs
Are you looking to start your own business in fashion? Here’s your chance to learn how to create a sustainable startup business.
Startup Fashion Week is the World’s ONLY Fashion Week to focus on Fashion, Technology and Business with an emphasis to provide support and awareness for emerging entrepreneurs in Fashion Design and Digital Fashion Startups. This extraordinary event is a celebration of entrepreneurship, mentorship and most of all an opportunity to pioneer the convergence of Fashion and Technology in Canada.
Startup Fashion Week will not only focus on the traditional Runway Production, but also on the skills needed to run a successful business within the fashion industry. At Startup Fashion Week there will be Future of Fashion Evening Forum on Oct. 7, the Business of Fashion Full Day Conference on Oct. 8th followed by an evening showcase and closing party on Oct. 9th.
Managing Director of Startup Fashion Week claims “the Fashion Industry is changing drastically because of the growing influence of Technology. Startup Fashion Week will not only create a much needed dialogue in Canada on how technology is influencing Fashion but it will also create various types of visibility and awareness for Startup Designers and entrepreneurs in Retail-Tech, Fashion-Tech and Wearable-Tech to learn how to build and develop sustainable business practices through these changing times”.
Having confirmed international speakers and guests from Montreal, NYC, Boston, Philadelphia and Indiana, Startup Fashion Week will not only be able to increase the profile of local talent, but also influence tourism within the city of Toronto. Goodfellow adds that “it takes a community to build a business in Fashion and our efforts are to recognize opportunities to strengthen the local economy and support entrepreneurs.”
Owner of the Toronto Fashion Academy, Jason Cameron claims “At the Toronto Fashion Academy we support Startup Fashion Week because we have noticed a surge of entrepreneurial talent in Toronto and a growing interest in Fashion related careers. Having a deeper understanding of the Future of Fashion will only strengthen our programs to deliver meaningful content and experiential learning opportunities.”
Part of the proceeds of Startup Fashion Week will proudly support Wear White 4 Women, a charitable campaign by Windfall Basics. The Wear White for Women program focuses on helping at-risk women meet the challenges of turning their lives around, finding meaningful employment, monitoring their children’s educational progress and health, and—most of all—finding new lives of dignity and independence, on their own terms.
