WORTH by David C. Wigley to Present Nordic Fairytale Inspired Collection at Toronto Men’s Fashion Week
Seasoned fashion designer, David C. Wigley will present his menswear collection at the second annual Toronto Men’s Fashion Week (TOM*FW) on Thursday, February 26th at 8PM.
Inspired by childhood thoughts, the image of living in a castle in Scotland and the Norwegian fairytale East of the Sun and west of the Moon, this collection combines includes wide selection of houndstooth, tweed, plaid, denim, leather and fur.
Wigley names his collection after the original fairytale, in which a young and beautiful girl is given to a polar bear, who by night turns into a handsome prince.
“As a child, I was fascinated with the stories of my family’s Scottish heritage and about the castles my family once owned. I thought all stories about castles were about our castles. When we had dinner and ate with sterling silver utensils with our clan crest on them I knew these stories were true – I was holding a piece of it!” Wigley says about the inspiration behind the Fall/Winter 2015 collection.
Wigley plays with the idea of how the polar bear transforms in to a prince. You’ll see tuxedo styled elements with metallic leather, statement mesh, vintage inspired pajama sets, shorts and robes.
You’ll appreciate the collection for it’s eco-conscious efforts using organic and recycled fabrics, exquisite tailoring and artful design. Partnering with H&M’s i-Collect initiative, WORTH saves all scraps from cutting to prevent the loss of fabrics and reduce waste during manufacturing.
“I genuinely give my heart and soul to every garment and to have my clients make it part of their living and breathing world is something that no words can describe. My collections are always close to my heart; this is my way of contributing to my family’s legacy and to showcase a collection that has been on my mind since I was just a child.”
Tickets for the FW2015 runway presentation for Worth by David C. Wigley are now available at TOM*FW.
